RTL-owned Channel Five has reported a year-on-year revenue fall of 12.4% to €212m in the first half of 2008.
Five's operating profit also fell from €5m in the first half of 2007 to zero in the first six months of this year.
However, RTL said its UK operations, Five and Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor producer FremantleMedia, were performing strongly on a day-to-day operational level when the effect of the strong euro against a weak pound is stripped out.
When Five's performance over the first half of this year is reported in pounds, rather than euros, it comes out at £164m – only 0.6% down compared with the same period of 2007.
Operating profits, reported earnings before interest, tax and amortisation, were zero in the first six months of the year.
Five's family of channels, including digital services Five US and Fiver, maintained an 8.9% share of the UK TV ad market in the first six months of 2008, RTL said.
However, flagship channel Five's share of adult viewing slipped slightly from 5.5% in the first half of 2007 to 5.3%.
RTL claimed it had seen a 45% year-on-year increase in ratings for Five's early evening news bulletin since Natasha Kaplinsky joined the broadcaster in early 2008.
Revenue at FremantleMedia, RTL's production and distribution subsidiary which has a major UK operation, fell by 6% to €567m (£450m), with operating profits up 6.6% to €97m (£77m).
The company said that Hole In the Wall, the "human Tetris" gameshow that sees celebrity contestants on shiny leotards force themselves through various holes, has become the "fastest ever" programme to roll out internationally to 22 countries so far, with BBC1 snapping up the UK rights.
Fremantle's ... Got Talent and ... Idol formats, known as Britain's Got Talent and Pop Idol in the UK respectively, also continued to "perform well".
